Adopt a River is an educational program of ecological water monitoring in collaboration with the Group of Education and Water Ecomonitoring (G3E).
It provides an index of the overall health status of a watercourse through the study of physico-chemical and bacteriological parameters, the harvesting and identification of benthic macroinvertebrates as well as the characterization of the site. Spread over a few years, the project provides insight into the quality of the water and the variations over time in the parameters measured.
It offers scientific activities in the classroom and in the field to better understand a watercourse and to act concretely to protect it. The COBAVER-VS coordinates the activities within the Rigaud River with students from Secondary 3, 4 and 5 of Collège Bourget for 3 years.
